Viewing and What to Wear?
At the start of each session we view the structure and the body’s movements patterns. Wear something that you do not mind being seen in. Ladies can wear a 2 piece bathing suit or sports bra and boxer type shorts. Men usually wear boxer shorts. Once we have viewed the body, a blanket is provided to keep warm if needed.
How are Osteopathy, Chiropractic and massage different to S.I?
Chiropractic and Osteopathy are types of manual therapy that focus on bone alignment and individual joints. Some use bone adjusting methods and some massage in their practice.
Structural Integration is a form of deep soft tissue bodywork and physical therapy that permanently changes the body’s structure, unlike massage, which is used as a relaxation treatment that only works the superficial muscles and brings out little or no change.
Structural Integration the entire body’s relationship to gravity is examined and improved. Each session starts out with an evaluation to determine where the fascia (connective tissue) is immobile and stiff. These areas are strategically released to create a more upright, efficient, posture by re-sculpting the fascia into a better working order.
Unless the tension and strain in the soft tissue (fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments) is addressed, the bones will continue to be pulled out of structural alignment.
